The Meaning Behind My Necklaces

The Meaning Behind My Necklaces

In my early women hood, I was not much of a jewelry person, at all. I would always break or lose the little jewelry I had. Due to the lack of responsibility I had for jewelry, I would always purchase cheap pieces that would never last long, even if I managed to be gentle, they would still break because they were so cheap. My Aunt had given me a really cute necklace for Christmas and I loved it but was also a little worried that it wasn’t going to last long. I started to wear it on a more daily basis and really sparked my interest in dainty jewelry, I wanted to include a few more pieces into my wardrobe. I spent a lot of time browsing many websites, popular ones you see influencers constantly posting and just wasn’t connecting with any of the pieces. The reason I loved the one my aunt got so much for me was the quality was making the test, the design had a meaning ( that will get to shortly) and when I wore it I felt confident. So I asked my aunt where she got it from, started browsing the page and within a couple minutes I was at the checkout. Shortly after the engraved line was launched and I had custom-made 2 new pieces that are very special to me and find myself wearing these few pieces daily. The company I get these pieces to come from Reiko Design, A small business in my hometown, Ladner. So not only am I bringing in these pieces that embrace memories and pure love from the heart, but I also get to support a small business during these trying times.

Building Confidence

Building Confidence

In the past few months, I have been hearing a word to describe myself by people I know or meet, and that word has been “confident.” I never was one to think of myself as a confident person, so to keep hearing this made me step back and see how much I have been embracing that confidence.
Coming from having no confidence in myself, always worried about my looks, or If I was doing something right, wondering if I was letting someone down? I just had a lack of self-confidence, and it was one of the main factors as to why I had such a negative mindset.
Gathering confidence in my self or the task I was involved in or relationships in my life I was in was my first step to learning to love myself and respect myself.

It took me years to really implement self-love into my life; I struggled with anxiety and depression and allowed that to take over my life and felt below worthless at times. I don’t want anyone to ever feel that way; it’s not pleasant, and honestly, life is too short. I wanted to put this out to the universe to anyone just needing guidance or a reminder that you are worth it. You are beautiful, and you can live happily, you can live your best life.
It took me over 10 years to really “master” the practice of self-love. It took a lot of hard work and will for you as well, but hopefully, with these tips, it won’t take you 10 years to master.

Being Mindful To Your Body

Being Mindful To Your Body

If you are a regular around here, you know by now how I am all about self-care and listening to your body when it needs a break.
I had a moment this morning where I was going to skip a morning workout out of pure laziness and it made me mindful of what my body wants vs to what my mind wants. How can you tell if your body needs a break or if your mind is playing tricks on you?

Setting Affirmations

Setting Affirmations

We can all get caught up in limiting beliefs, and I find by setting a daily affirmation will help guide you with a positive mindset. With this mindset, it will help guide you and motivate you to work towards your goals and to remind you of your worth. Whenever I get caught up with a negative mindset ( it can happen, Im, only human) I like to remind myself of my affirmation that I set, and it puts that smile back on my face, changes my mood and helps me get back into gear, and I set myself up for success. Bringing My Hair Back To Life

Bringing My Hair Back To Life

Anyone who is really close to me will fully understand my love and passion for my hair. Im, not one to be caught up in the appearance of my hair or always checking myself out every opportunity I get, but I have a lot of respect and love for my hair and I will tell you why.

My passion for my hair strives off of pride. Pride in myself for overcoming a lifestyle that was threatening to my health. It was a time in my life where I was fragile, broken, lost and unhappy. I was suffering from my mental health more than ever as I was so caught up in a lifestyle fueled by drugs and alcohol that lead me to have no perception of what day of the week it was. I had spent a few weeks sleepless and decided that I needed a haircut, I have no idea at this time what exactly was going through my head but I thought it would be a great idea to cut all my hair off to just above my ears over a three-day span. Just imagine that for one second… I was so embarrassed and ashamed I would wear hats to hide it. When my hair started growing back I felt beautiful again, valued and had started feeling respect for myself. It was the beginning of the transformation to who I am today. I take pride in my hair and keep it healthy as a reminder of my respect and how hard I have worked to not get to that point again.

Black Lives Matter

Black Lives Matter

Like many, the past couple of weeks gave really impacted how I see everyday life. It has been brought to my attention just how much privilege I have for being white and as I am grateful for my privilege I am hurt that having this privilege exists.
It saddens me that after all these years people get judged and bullied for the colour of their skin. it is so wrong and we need to do better.

Friday was Juneteenth which is known as freedom day or emancipation day, it’s an annual American holiday that commenced June 19th, 1865, the ending of slavery. Here in Vancouver we had a march in unity and as much as I wanted to be apart of it, I couldn’t escape work but I was lucky enough to catch it on my way home and it was such an amazing sight to see, a powerful feeling listening to all the chants and the passion in everyone’s voices. It gave me hope and put a smile on my face to see everyone coming together to create change, to express community values, morals, and wants.  Let’s keep that up! Continue reading “Black Lives Matter”
